The Red Bridge in Kamloops will remain closed to vehicles until further notice after an early morning fire on Tuesday, July 19, 2023. The fire was reported at around 4:30 a.m. and crews were on scene within minutes. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the bridge sustained some damage. The City of Kamloops has closed the bridge to vehicles until further notice while crews assess the damage and make repairs. Pedestrians and cyclists are still able to use the bridge, but are asked to be cautious and obey all signs. The City of Kamloops is asking drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
