Traumatized by Rajya Sabha disruptions: Jagdeep Dhankhar

Former West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar expresses anguish over disruptions in the Rajya Sabha

"The nation is watching in pain and anguish", says Dhankhar

In a strongly worded statement, former West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed anguish over the disruptions witnessed in the Rajya Sabha during the recent monsoon session of Parliament.

Dhankhar, who is now the Vice President of India, said, "The nation is watching in pain and anguish the continued disruptions in the Rajya Sabha, which have prevented the smooth functioning of the House and obstructed important legislative business."

He added, "It is a matter of deep concern that the elected representatives of the people are not allowing the House to function in a constructive and productive manner. This is a gross violation of the trust reposed in them by the citizens of our country."

  • Dhankhar called for an immediate end to the disruptions and urged all members of the Rajya Sabha to engage in constructive dialogue and debate.
  • He emphasized the need to uphold the dignity and decorum of the House and ensure that it remains a forum for meaningful deliberation and legislative work.
  • Dhankhar's statement has received widespread support from various quarters, including political leaders, academicians, and civil society organizations.
